WINCH APPLICATION
Four custom air motor systems were needed in Australia for a mining company’s drag
line. The crane’s winch is powered hydraulically, but the company wanted to protect
itself from potential downtime of the hydraulic system by incorporating a pneumatic backup
system.

| Solution: |
A standard PSI Automation 10 hp air motor with an integrated planetary
gear box was used. A custom foot mount was fabricated to match the customer's
specifications and to correctly balance the suspended air motor system. A custom air
piloted Horton air brake was integrated into the assembly operated directly from PSI
Automation’s V1 air valve. |
